Where Can I Get a Portable Printer Scanner?

If you are looking for a portable printer scanner, one choice of action for you will be to search the internet and type in the keywords "printer scanner." You will be directed towards various multi-functional printers as well as all-in-ones. Unfortunately, a few of them will be portable. Though there is a ton of printers that have the features of a printer and a scanner rolled into one, there are only a few of these printer scanners that come in a portable package. So far, most printer scanner models come in a desktop design and they are too bulky to be considered for carrying.

Canon is able to produce a series of printers that are also capable of scanning. However, they are not advertised as printer scanners. In fact, they are advertised as portable printers. If you are familiar with Canon's Bubble Jet series, you will know that the BJC 50, BJC55, BJC80 and BJC85 have an optional IS-12 color image scanner cartridge that you can get at any Canon Store. This optional accessory converts each of these portable printers into a portable printer scanner. These converted sheet-fed scanners are able to scan at 360 dots per inch resolution. Unlike all-in-one printers where the scanned document is placed on a layer of glass, these printers scan documents like those that they are printing. Instead of shooting out ink, it scans the document line by line.

The resolution of 360dpi is not so ideal in this generation. Although it is expected since these scanners are not flatbed scanners. Scanners that use the ADF or what is commonly called Auto Document Feeder are capable of picking up only a few details compared to flatbed scanners. Let us take for example, Canon's all-in-one printer, MX7600. It has both a flatbed scanner and an ADF scanner. The ADF resolution is at 600dpi while the flatbed resolution is at 4800 x 9600 dpi. Compared to the later scanner models, the resolution of these printer/scanners are still in its early stages.

So far, no printer company has yet invested in a printer scanner that is also portable aside from Canon. Additionally, compared to the resolution of the latest scanners available in the market, these portable printer scanners do not have the printing speed that most printers today have. The best speed you can get from these printers is 5ppm and that is in black and white. If you want to print a colored page, the speed is 2ppm. That means it will take you 30 seconds to get one page through.

Do not be discouraged. If you need a portable printer that is able to scan at the same time, then these portable printers are still your best options. The main disadvantage of these printers is their speed. Other than that, they are still able to deliver crisp black and white texts as well as brilliant colors. It may take a while before we see portable printer scanners with very high scanning resolutions. If you still wish to continue buying these Canon models, you will have better luck looking for them in sites like Amazon and eBay since Canon has already discontinued the production of these models.

Choosing a printer that can also scan is not something that should be taken lightly as the wrong choice will not only make the task a pain, but it will also be a waste of your time and money. Where to Buy Lexmark Printer Cartridges

Looking for the best place to buy Lexmark printer cartridges? Follow these simple rules:

Make sure they are Lexmark Cartridges

You may see some people selling knock offs of Lexmark Printer cartridges on some internet auction sites. Beware of these because very often they do not work. They look just like Lexmark cartridges, they pop into your printer just like Lexmark printer cartridges but they do not work. You might be attracted by a super low price, but you are not getting anything of value. If the printer cartridge does not work, it is useless. Look for the name brand when you are buying printer cartridges otherwise you are taking a chance of them not working in your printer.

Know your model number

Yes, all Lexmark printer cartridges look alike. They all have the same square body and top. They have color cartridges and black and white. Some printers have photo color cartridges. All of these are made for certain printers. In order to get a printer cartridge for your printer, you have to know the name and number of your printer. Do not get a printer cartridge that looks like it will fit your printer. If you do not know your printer model name and number, wait until you can write it down before you buy printer cartridges. If you get a bargain at the store because printer cartridges are on sale, it will be no bargain if they do not work in your printer.

Shop online

You can generally get a better deal online when it comes to buying Lexmark printer cartridges than you can in any store. As a matter of fact, you can expect to pay at least 50 percent less than what you would pay in the store, especially if you have an older model printer. Because Lexmark printers are built to last, many people have older model printers. The cartridges for these printers that were once priced at $50 are now around $15 at some online outlets, although the prices in the stores have not dropped that dramatically. If you want to get the best value, shop online for Lexmark printer cartridges.

Keep the above tips in mind when you are seeking to purchase Lexmark printer cartridges for your quality Lexmark printer. By shopping carefully and especially by taking advantage of the online prices, you can get the best deals for cartridges for your quality Lexmark printer.

Good Science Fair Project Ideas - Where Do They Come From?

The very idea of conducting a science fair is to help the students learn scientific facts in an interesting way, to understand it and also exhibit what they had learnt, to an audience. To achieve this, the theme of the project must be within the realm of the students and has to be chosen carefully. In order to have a successful project, one must first find a good science fair project idea.

Good school libraries and well equipped public libraries should be a helpful source for good science fair project ideas. But now plenty are available over the Internet. One can get a good science fair project idea from the ones listed, according to the targeted age group. In the science category, choose a topic that interests most of the students. Then, narrow it down and make it into a project. It would be ideal if it can be of some use to the general public also. In general, use the internet sparingly, unless there is a paid guide. Keep in mind that all of the ideas and information you find for free on the internet are about projects that have been done before by thousands of other students, while in general, paid guides are performed by far fewer students because of the price tag barrier.

A good science fair project idea can be chosen from natural science, physical science, microbiology or any interesting branch of science. Be considerate that the necessary articles required for the project are freely available either naturally or in the nearby areas. Let not the collection of materials be a big chore for the eager students that the project becomes a hard task.

Safety should be high on the list such that the students understand the risks involved and the project is undertaken in such a way that it is monitored and supervised both in the school and if it is carried on at home, by some elder.

It would be ideal if the project be done and over within a few minutes time, such that it can be demonstrated in full to the judges and the audience, who attend the fair. Time consuming projects can make the tiny minds restless.

Bigger projects that need checking and validation may be reserved for the students of the higher grades. Simple projects should be easily reproducible. Little projects that have a public value may be highly appreciated, and should definitely be considered good science fair project ideas if they have wide application. Few natural cycles that take a few days to complete may be carefully conducted such that the audiences may be asked to revisit the fair, which may be a crowd puller project.

Explanation of simple magical tricks and attempts to demystifying existing myths may be quiet receptive to the young minds. For zoology projects, information is gathered by observation. For physics and chemistry projects, experiments are done, data is collected and the conclusions are made. Such should be the good science fair project ideas.

Good science fair project ideas and the projects should keep the young minds motivated.
