The Small Laser Printer Solves Portable Printing Needs

For people who are traveling and need to work while on the go, a printer that is lightweight and easy to carry is a necessity. At the moment, the creators of laptops do not have the technology yet to incorporate a printer into the laptop itself--a feature that is bound to happen in the near future. As for now, we would have to rely on portable printers for our printing needs when we travel. What we need to look for is a printer that is small and incredibly lightweight but, at the same time, is still able to print high-quality printouts at a fast speed. What we need is a small laser printer.

The market has a variety of small printers for sale. The small laser printer has been available in the market for some time now, and prices are becoming more affordable by the year. With the introduction of portable color printers and laser photo printers, the travel printers have become influenced and further improved. Businessmen who need to run prints while on the road and like to travel are the primary users of mini printers. A businessman with a hectic schedule with the need to print things quickly will find small laser printing very useful. A portable printer is perfect for those urgent prints or spontaneous presentations.

The features on a small laser printer may vary, but not as much as you'd expect. Because of the progression of print technology nowadays, downgrading the size of a printer doesn't mean a sacrifice in its features. Companies have been meticulously developing a portable laser printer that can equal a regular-sized one in terms of speed and print quality; and fortunately, they were successful. Small laser printing equipment can actually rank up well in competition.

They are often quieter than other large office counterparts and are specifically designed to use less space than regular office printers. There might be a little sacrifice in terms of speed or all-in-one functionality with a small laser printer; but in majority, a portable printer can boast of similar features to its larger stationary versions. The current technology of a mini printer does not allow it to copy, fax or scan because these features will drastically add to the size of the otherwise portable printer. On the other hand, mini-printers are still similar in terms of other aspects, which is why a small laser printer is still a good choice for the running traveler.

A small laser printer is chic, incredibly low profile and very easy to pack into cases and to carry with the business traveler. Some weigh 5 to 10 pounds and require little space to function. If you are a business traveler who needs a print or two on the road, a small laser printer is perfect for you. Choosing the best mini printer that can print while traveling is not something that you should be taking lightly. A wrong choice could waste your time and money. Before you go on your buying spree, conduct some research on the Internet about the best printers or consult with your hardware store about what printers they are offering.

Where Can I Get a Portable Printer Scanner?

If you are looking for a portable printer scanner, one choice of action for you will be to search the internet and type in the keywords "printer scanner." You will be directed towards various multi-functional printers as well as all-in-ones. Unfortunately, a few of them will be portable. Though there is a ton of printers that have the features of a printer and a scanner rolled into one, there are only a few of these printer scanners that come in a portable package. So far, most printer scanner models come in a desktop design and they are too bulky to be considered for carrying.

Canon is able to produce a series of printers that are also capable of scanning. However, they are not advertised as printer scanners. In fact, they are advertised as portable printers. If you are familiar with Canon's Bubble Jet series, you will know that the BJC 50, BJC55, BJC80 and BJC85 have an optional IS-12 color image scanner cartridge that you can get at any Canon Store. This optional accessory converts each of these portable printers into a portable printer scanner. These converted sheet-fed scanners are able to scan at 360 dots per inch resolution. Unlike all-in-one printers where the scanned document is placed on a layer of glass, these printers scan documents like those that they are printing. Instead of shooting out ink, it scans the document line by line.

The resolution of 360dpi is not so ideal in this generation. Although it is expected since these scanners are not flatbed scanners. Scanners that use the ADF or what is commonly called Auto Document Feeder are capable of picking up only a few details compared to flatbed scanners. Let us take for example, Canon's all-in-one printer, MX7600. It has both a flatbed scanner and an ADF scanner. The ADF resolution is at 600dpi while the flatbed resolution is at 4800 x 9600 dpi. Compared to the later scanner models, the resolution of these printer/scanners are still in its early stages.

So far, no printer company has yet invested in a printer scanner that is also portable aside from Canon. Additionally, compared to the resolution of the latest scanners available in the market, these portable printer scanners do not have the printing speed that most printers today have. The best speed you can get from these printers is 5ppm and that is in black and white. If you want to print a colored page, the speed is 2ppm. That means it will take you 30 seconds to get one page through.

Do not be discouraged. If you need a portable printer that is able to scan at the same time, then these portable printers are still your best options. The main disadvantage of these printers is their speed. Other than that, they are still able to deliver crisp black and white texts as well as brilliant colors. It may take a while before we see portable printer scanners with very high scanning resolutions. If you still wish to continue buying these Canon models, you will have better luck looking for them in sites like Amazon and eBay since Canon has already discontinued the production of these models.

Does Every Office Need a Portable Printer Scanner?

Before we answer this question, let's break this question into different segments.

Every Office Needs a Printer

Obviously, every office needs a printer. Whether it is for printing documents or reports, every office needs a fast printer that can be connected to a network. A network feature is important to an office printer as well so that many users are able to use them. Many printer companies produce printers with optional network capability just for this purpose. Some of them are even able to connect wirelessly to accommodate users with portable devices such as laptops and PDAs.

Every Office Needs a Scanner

Similar to needing a printer, every office also needs a scanner. Scanners are very useful for copying documents in a hurry. Even if an office's main function is not to produce copies, every office still needs a scanner. A lot of uses can be found especially in human resource offices with all the scanning of documents such as passports, resumes, identification.

Stationary or Portable

Having these features on a portable device is certainly an advantage. However, it is important that aside from being portable, it should be able to support the printing needs of an office as well as the printing needs. Most devices, when converted to being portable, lose some of its features. If we take printers for example, some printers lose the feature of being able to handle a large capacity. Most portable printers offer a maximum paper handling of 50 sheets. Desktop printers on the other hand are able to handle more than a hundred.

Let us take a look into the portable printer scanners that are available in the market. The Bubble Jet Color Series from Canon, namely BJC 50, BJC 55, BJC 80 and BJC85, are portable printers and scanners at the same time. They are usually advertised as portable printers. However, not everyone knows that with just one optional accessory, the IS-12 Color Image Scanner Cartridge, each of these printers can be converted into a portable printer scanner. Just take out the ink cartridge and replace it with the IS-12 and you can scan documents.

Unfortunately, these printers do not have the features that an office need for a printer and a scanner. Typically, an office needs a fast printer to accommodate many users. The BJC series from canon can only print up to 5 pages per minute in black and white and 2ppm in color. If an office uses this kind of printer, it will awfully be a long line to get your output done.

Every office needs a printer and every office needs a scanner. Having both equipments in one package is even an advantage since they can save money. A portable printer scanner however is another story. Portable printer scanners are not as durable as desktop printer scanners and most of them do not have speeds and resolutions that are comparable to that of a desktop printer scanner.

Mr. Johnson specializes in finding the best portable printer scanner for personal and professional use. Choosing a printer that can also scan is not something that should be taken lightly as the wrong choice will not only make the task a pain, but it will also be a waste of your time and money. Does Every Household Need a Portable Laptop Printer?

Every household needs a printer. However, not every household needs a portable laptop printer. Portable printers offer benefits especially for those who travel a lot. However, these printers may not be as effective as desktop printers may when we're talking about home usage. Having portable printers may have their advantages. In this article, we will focus on what both machines can offer.

A portable laptop printer is advantageous in terms of its size. They are much smaller compared to desktop printers. They are a lot easier to store and you can carry them around conveniently. A desktop printer needs to be allocated space and frequent moving is not ideal. Because these printers are heavy by design, no good can come from frequently moving them around the house.

The main advantage of portable printers have over desktop printers is their portability. Because of their size and construction, they are meant to be taken places. This offers the convenience of having a printer even when you're on a business trip. If you're going places where you are not familiar with, you may lose a lot of time looking for computer shops. If you have your own portable laptop printer, you can just plug it to your laptop and you're ready for printing. However, when it comes to household printing, this is not much of an advantage.

One danger of having portable printers in the house is that they can easily be moved. We have discussed this to be an advantage but in some cases, it is not. If you have kids in the house, they may find these gadgets very easy to move and may play with it. This is why it is important to store these kinds of gadgets properly. Kids cannot move desktop printers as easily since they are heavier.

In terms of performance, desktop printers are a lot faster than mobile printers are. Normally, desktop printers operate at speeds around 35 pages per minute. The fastest mobile printer can only print up to 22ppm. If you have a lot to print, then the speed difference will certainly be noticeable. In terms of print quality, both printers should equally be capable of printing the same high-resolution photos and crisp text. However, that depends on the model that you have.

Not all portable printers are equipped to take on heavy jobs. Unlike desktop printers that have paper trays that can hold hundreds of papers, portable printers can only hold a few, the highest being fifty. Some portable models don't even have paper trays. This means that you have to insert the pages individually in order to print. Desktop printers overcome this one problem.

Portable printers may offer some advantages though. In terms of energy saving, portable printers have lesser energy consumption since their parts are smaller than desktop printers are. For some models, you can even make use of their internal battery.

Having a portable laptop printer certainly has its advantages that sometimes people who already have desktop printers still buy laptop printers. It may seem costly in some perspective but if the advantages of having both outweigh the disadvantages, then it is money well spent.

Mr. Johnson specializes in finding the best portable laptop printer for personal and professional use. Choosing the right portable printer is not something that should be taken lightly. The wrong choice will not only make your life more difficult, but it will also be a waste of your time and money.
