Learning Science With A Smile

Who ever said that you couldn't combine business with pleasure was a total idiot. Why is that so? It is so because being serious, at the same time having fun, is possible. Science is always thought to be a highly serious subject, but still, your children can enjoy while exploring those scientific discoveries and innovations.

Children nowadays seem to have a dam around them when it comes to telling them to do their homework or to study. Oftentimes you just can't persuade them to concentrate on their studies because they are just too busy playing with their toys. To save you from further frustration, educational science toys were invented. This way, your children not only learn from the things that are taught, but they also do so with big smiles on their faces due to utter enjoyment and pleasure.

Crime Lab Investigation is an example of an educational science toy for it lets your child enjoy the job of a crime investigator. The mental capacity of your child will be enhanced, for this toy lets your kid examine evidence by using forensic science to be able to solve certain cases.

Let's Get Gross is another toy, which is, mind you, the grossest set of them all. This educational toy set gives enough of the ingredients or materials needed in creating lots of odorous and really disgusting body parts. You can get to make slimy brains, fake eyeballs, rotten egg smells, fake snot, and fake cuts and wounds. All these parts have been molded in various body part shapes to make your children realize that the body is not all good, and that it can get really ugly and smelly if not taken cared of.

Our Amazing Avalanches and Mudslides helps your children learn more about avalanches and mudslides while they create their own. This educational science toy can be deemed as very advantageous in learning most especially to those who live in areas where such happen most often. With this set, you and your kid can paint and display the base of your mountain, create snow, watch those trees topple down, and also learn about the different factors that cause an avalanche or a mudslide.

Another educational science toy, and also the most used and most popular, is the Our Amazing Volcanoes Science Fair Project. This set will give your child a chance to safely explore the most destructive force of nature on Earth. You are allowed endless experiments and variations due to the number of seven volcanoes that are available, together with the dual-chamber volcano bottle. You can make the lava of your artificial volcano thicker or foamier, and also change the level of eruption from a puny trickle down the sides to a whopping six-foot roaring fountain.

You can also explore the science and art of building bridges with Our Amazing Bridges Science Fair Project. You can create different sorts of bridges from ones that just cross narrow ravines and rivers using logs or just rocks, to the extremely huge mile-long suspension bridges of today's time. You start, first, with spanning a realistic landscape of a river using a modern truss bridge out of steel by just using a few bits of gussets and plastic I-beams. After that, you can start making a graceful and lean yard-long suspesion bridge from materials that weigh as light as a feather.

There are different kinds of toys you could purchase for your children. But there are only a few educational science toys to help you children improve science-wise; at the same time have fun. Mixing business with pleasure is indeed possible. With educational science toys, you have just hit two birds with one stone.

Engage Your Kids In Learning And Fun With Science Projects

Make opportunities to learn science available

Many parents want to encourage their kids to have fun learning but simply do not know how. There is actually an easy solution; encourage kids to think scientifically by providing them with opportunities to practice. As a parent you must teach this principle by example. When you go outside for a walk or a bike ride, point out some of the things that you see. Ask your kids if they know why the weeds can push through the sidewalk, or how a scraped knee will heal itself. Ask questions and if you don't know the answers see if you can think of an experiment that will help you to figure out what is going on. There is science in everything around us, we just have to be opened to seeing it.

Teach your children to explore their curiosity

Curiosity is said to be the most essential trait of a scientist. Encourage your children to ask questions and express an interest in finding out more about what you notice and read. See if you can find out answers to questions by trying things out. Ask your kids if they have any suggestions for an experiment that they could do to answer the question or confirm the theory that they have. Help them through the process and be available for questioning but encourage your child to find the answers for themselves.

Encourage kids to find the answers for themselves

Some questions lend themselves better to casual experiments than others. A good example would be experimenting to find the answer to the question, "Will seeds in the fruits and vegetables we eat grow?" Put them in the dirt and see! It's most important to communicate the idea that you can find out answers to your own questions, and that the most reliable answers are the ones you find through your own experiments. Yes, you could just answer their questions and save yourself some time and effort, but in doing so you will miss out on an important educational opportunity. Now is this to say that you shouldn't answer any question without first doing an experiment? No! This is not realistic. But with the occasional science project you can teach a child concepts that will bee more deeply engrained in their minds because they found the answers themselves and didn't have to take someone else's word for it.

Other ideas to promote an interest in science

There are lots of mediums that you can use to engage your kids in learning and having fun with science. A blend of many different types of science information exposure is best.

o Visit a science center, zoo or aquarium.

o Garden together.

o Building something together.

o Watching science programs on television (good examples include Zoom, Beakman's World, Bill Nye: The Science Guy, or Mythbusters. Of course, these shows vary in age appropriateness so it is important to always monitor what your children watch).

Things That Go Boom - Kids Science Kits Make Learning Fun

Every kid should understand how the human body works. They should have an appreciation of biology and the laws of nature. They should understand the properties of various elements and chemicals and the simple laws of physics. Of course, kids learn this in school, but in order to keep their interest in science going, you might want to consider buying them additional science kits or a scientist set. These kits truly make learning fun. A good science kit will provide your child with plenty of hands on activities and experiments that will make science seem like a cool adventure rather than a boring school subject.

Science should even be cool for girls. A lot of girls shy away from science without realizing that chemistry and technology is the basis for many of the products they use on a daily basis - like lip gloss, cosmetics, cell phones and texting. A good science kit can help girls (and boys) realize that a lot of the day to day products they take for granted were created by scientists.

If you're looking to get your daughter interested in science, consider some of the science in box products by the Scientific Explorer. These kits are developed in cooperation with notable universities and scientists around the country and provide clear and easy instructions on how to use them - plus an explanation of the science behind them.

Best of all, the manufacturer has several great kits which are geared towards girls. If you have a daughter who longs for a spa day, then get her the Spa Science Kit - she'll get to make her own spa treatments by mixing (safe) chemical and ingredients. There are even bottles and labels so she can make her own products to give (or sell) to friends and family. The Spa Science Kit is super hands on and super fun and will make your daughter think in a whole different way about what is in her bottle of shampoo.

Of course, just because she's a girl, doesn't mean your daughter would only be interested in spa science - and that's what's great about the variety of science kits for kids that are on the market today. Your child might be interested in disgusting science - like the Disgusting Anatomy Brain or Disgusting Anatomy Heart kit, also from Scientific Explorer. Or perhaps your kids are interested in things that go boom and might want to check out a rocket building kit.

If your child is computer savvy or a tinkerer there are other great kits - like electricity kits and robot building kits that combine building and computer skills. These kits are a lot of fun and their hands-on nature allows kids to figure out things and build something they can keep.

Of course if your kids are into nature, there are many science kits that will help stoke their excitement with the natural world, from rock and gem stone kits, to ant farms, to butterfly habitats.

The world really is the limit with all of the high quality science kits that are out on the market today. By incorporating fun science projects into your kids life you will spark intellectual curiosity and continual thirst for knowledge - as well as reinforce basic and advance science principles.

You can find kids science kits online through a basic internet search. Be sure to read consumer reviews of the products before buying to make sure that the science kit is age appropriate and correctly geared towards your child's interests.
